Once in a while theres a craze in the makeup world that eventually leads to a chain reaction.
The most recent one, I think? Contouring and Highlighting palettes. These types of palettes only really came into my knowledge after there was a huge hype with the new and upcoming product from Australis - AC ON TOUR Contouring and Highlighting kit. It was sold out everywhere! and it took weeks for them to get it back in stock. So I definitely had high hopes for this product."Sculpt and define like a pro with six powders designed to contour and highlight the face. Formulated to provide a natural and healthy glow for any skin tone."
If your taking a second look, it might be because this little beauty looks exactly like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, inside and out. The difference though, the Australis AC ON TOUR Contouring & Highlighting Kit is a fraction of the cost with the price being 40$USD (approximately 56$AUD at time of post) for the Anastasia Beverly Hills and Australis AC ON TOUR is only 16.95$AUD. Unfortunately I don't the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, therefore I won't be able to comment on how well the Australis does compared.
At first glance we can see that there are 6 different shades, 3 contouring shades on the bottom and 3 highlighting shades at the top. These include (from left to right -top) one matte highlighter, a banana colour and a shimmery highlighter. Basically every highlighting shade you would need. For contouring within the 3 shades, 2 being warm and 1 cool. When I tested these out I noticed that it was extremely pigmented. I had to use a very very light hand as the shades were too dark. If it wasn't blended out well or I accidentally applied too much then it would somewhat give me a muddy look. To be completely honest this palette is not one that I would be reaching for on a daily basis. I only ever use it when I'm going anywhere that will need me to take photos. Such as events, going out at night etc as it makes my face so defined. I generally only use the contouring shades to set my 'cream' contour (for reference is a Maybelline Fit Me Foundation stick in 330.) Even though I say I wouldn't use it on a daily basis. I still love it to bits. It creates the perfect amount of shading and contouring that makes me look amazing in photos.
Overall, for anyone new to makeup and need to grow their makeup collection, I highly recommend this product. Not only is the price incredibly affordable, its so versatile. Australis has also recently released a '2.0' version of this highly popular product. The exactly same concept but in light, medium and dark. Additionally they have released a cream contouring kit! make sure to get your hand on any of these products. You will definitely wont be disappointed.
